In 1998, while working on a master's degree at OSU in Somatics, Paul was looking for a way to help people improve their health and well-being. He decided that becoming a massage therapist could be a better way to do that. So he left OSU and entered Massage Away school of therapy (now American Institute of Alternative Medicine) and was licensed as a therapist in January of 2000. He spent the next five years working full-time in a clinical setting, doing a lot of deep tissue and trigger point therapy. With the birth of his son, Paul went out on his own, working part-time visiting people in their homes. In addition, he contracts with a couple of adult daycare centers where he provides massage therapy and teaches a taiji-based movement for health class. He and his family have really enjoyed the flexibility offered by this profession.
Paul has served on the Board of Directors as the secretary for a number of years. In that time, he has also chaired the standing rules committee and spear-headed efforts to increase volunteer involvement with the chapter. It has been fun seeing how the chapter has changed over the last five years.
Paul and his wife Lori and son Carver live in Columbus and enjoy being creative and making all kinds of crafty things. | ||

| I completed my foundational training in Massage Therapy in 2005 at Columbus State Community College and went on to complete advanced training in neuromuscular, fascial release, positional release, and muscle energy techniques. In addition, I am a 2003 graduate of the Ohio State University with a BS in interdisciplinary studies combining human physiology, motor control and learning, and cultural studies in movement. Today, I live and work in Columbus where I am in my third year as a therapist at The Ohio State University with the Department of Recreational Sports. I enjoy the challenge of being a generalist in the large and diverse Ohio State community. Like many broadly-focused practices, while seeing many different concerns I work most frequently with people in pain. In addition to stress relief and injury management approaches in my therapy, I specialize in combining targeted fascial, neuromuscular, and Swedish techniques for thorough and yet gentle pain relief. I hope to help the AMTA-Ohio continue to grow as a trusted center of information and action regarding all the different faces and uses of massage therapy. And I hope to do it together - with growing participation by you, our members. I share my home with two small cats, sunlight from big windows, books on communication and pain research, and magazines on architecture and design. | ||

| Before becoming a massage therapist, I was working at a hospital and as a firefighter I/EMT, and also going to school to be an RN. All together, I have worked in the medical field for almost 20 years. I have always had a genuine passion for helping people. I graduated from The Dayton School Of Medical Massage in 2006 and started my own business that same year. I had additional training in Comfort Touch, after which I began volunteering my services for Hospice. I specialized in Advanced Deep Tissue and Neuromuscular Therapy, later training in lymphatic drainage, pregnancy massage and infant massage instruction, sports massage and most recently Spinal Reflex Therapy. I have an insatiable desire for learning and look forward to the endless possibilities before me. I am a single mother of 5 amazing children and 1 incredibly cute grandson! My three youngest children and I live in New Carlisle. I own a private practice in Huber Heights. A couple years after getting my license, I volunteered for a team of massage therapists which were going to travel embedded in an army unit to Iraq to provide services for the men and women in our armed forces. Our mission was cancelled but I was proud to be part of that team and would go in a heart-beat if ever given the option again. I am a certified BWC provider and last year I received my credentials at the Dayton VA Hospital where I work with poly-trauma and PTSD patients as well as active duty and retired military at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base. I recently joined the AMTA-Ohio Sports Massage Team and hope to further my education to get a degree and eventually work in the research area for massage therapy. This is my first experience with the Board of Directors. However, I have been an AMTA member since I was a student. I am excited to begin this new branch of my career and anxious to see what it will grow into. I look forward to making new connections and being part of the growth of the massage profession. | ||
